Blacktopping
Roger and Sons is a full service paving contractor specializing in the Municipal, Industrial/Commercial, and Residential markets. Jim or Roger evaluates the information collected by our estimator. Using photos of the potential job site along with measurements and any specific requirements; he then calculates a price and prepares a proposal with the information provided. Preparation for the job is the key to a quality job. This includes using a laser for grade and drainage, correct type of base material, and best choice of asphalt wear material for intended use. The life of blacktop can vary depending on the depth of installation, intended use and continued care of the driveway or parking lot over the years. If the driveway is already asphalt and just showing wear we can offer and alternative solution to refresh that blacktop. An overlay of the existing blacktop is one suggestion or possibly it only needs sealcoat. We pride ourselves on innovative solutions for your individual projects.
Seal Coating
Seal coat covers the asphalt with a coal tar membrane that resists the element and provides protection for your asphalt pavement. Blacktop usually deteriorates because of moisture, petroleum and chemical spills or oxidation caused by the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Before seal coating, any broken areas or potholes in the surface need to be repaired. Forced air or water flushing should then clean the pavement. Application is done by an operator driven machine using a squeegee. Follow up by our broom crew ensures a thorough application.
Snow Removal
With Rogers’s base of operation located in Austin, MN we experience each change of season. Changes in seasons mean we shift gears with the weather and tune up equipment accordingly. We service our snow blowers, attach plow to trucks, wings on graders, and snow buckets on loaders to prepare the variety of snow equipment available for our customers. Too much snow affects our customers with limited parking areas so we haul away the snow piles for either residential or commercial property. No matter what time the weather hits, our customers prompt and courteous service.

Pot Hole Repair
The sun oxidizes pavement, hardening the binder that holds the asphalt together. Then the pavement becomes brittle and begins to crack. Water enters these cracks, expands and contracts during freeze-thaw cycles enlarging the cracks. Then it seeps into the sub-base causing the blacktop to buckle and separate resulting in potholes. The best solution for this type of situation is the complete removal of the damaged blacktop. Checking to make sure the base is solid and edges have been milled or sawed, you can safely install new asphalt to the existing depth of surrounding material. On occasion, a tack material can be applied between lifts to insure binding.
Pavement Cleaning
As mentioned in our information on paving-often times certain surfaces need an industrial approach to the dirt or debris left behind. We have a truck with a flusher tank for just these types of problems. The company will more often use one of our mobile sweepers to sweep an area clean and pick up debris. This cleaning can be done as a one-time service on lot maintenance or on a regular basis.
Grading
Roger and Sons can provide you with solutions for grading problems using the variety of equipment we have available along with experienced operators. Grading needs can vary from construction site work to road work and as simple as rock parking lot maintenance.
Pavement Stripping
Parking areas that require organization have designated areas. We can mark, change, or install new parking spaces to give these areas a professional feel. Some lots require handicap stenciling, curb painting, arrows or lettering to inform customers, residents, or visitors of their best choices. This is just a sample of solutions available with the use of striping.
